MISSION STATEMENT
The Defenders
Baseball Club is a non-profit organization that provides a structured,
positive environment for children ages 10 to 15 in the South Baltimore
area. Our aim is to use the benefits of team sports to influence and
nurture the children of our community at a pivotal time in their lives.
Through baseball, we stress the importance of commitment, discipline
and fair play. We are able to make travel baseball affordable to the
families in our community with the support of our generous sponsors
and volunteers.
Our Community
We service the
South Baltimore area because we believe there are limited opportunities
for children of our target age group. We hope to inspire our children
to be responsible citizens and of service to their community.
Our
Children
We target children
ages 10 to 15 because we believe this is a pivotal time in their lives.
Many have aspirations to play high school baseball. However, without
the proper development of skills our children might not have the opportunity.
Imagine going out for your high school team having not played organized
baseball for two years! While our children possess the athletic ability
to compete at the “travel” level, most travel teams are
cost prohibitive.
Our Organization
We are a non-profit
organization made up completely of volunteers from our community. Every
penny we receive goes directly to our children. Our only desire is to
provide a positive environment for our children. Our focus is on fair
play and team disciplines. We teach the fundamentals of baseball and
stress the importance of team spirit, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
